See Thorin Run. Honestly, when Thorin calls Smaug a slow fat slug it’s the highlight of the trilogy for me. Maybe because I’m a natural-born taunter? I mean, it wasn’t the best taunt but considering it was Thorin who had delivered it? A+ for the effort!
I feel like Thorin doesn’t understand how to taunt someone properly and always ends up sliding into deathly insult territory when he tries. So he doesn’t often try. It’s easier and less offensive to be stoic.
I am proud of myself for drawing Smaug-ball. That is what I call him in my head. I’ve been doing Inktober over on my non-fandom blog and I was inspired to doodle this pic up with Staedtler pigment liners. I have sizes 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 and I tend to make use of all sizes when I do larger works. This one was mostly done with a 0.3 sized pen.
Slowly working on inking/colouring an old sketch. I’m REALLY liking this brush! Lookit that line variation! It feels a lot like using a nib pen but it’s Photoshop! It’s one of Kyle’s brushes, the Ultimate Oil Detail Brush 30px. I can tell that when I sketched this picture I had been planning to ink with a nib because I have a lot of short lines. XD Well, at least until I have to do Sherlock’s jaw/neck.
To Valinor. This is an old panel from a comic anthology I participated in years and years ago. The story I’d submitted had been about Sam joining Frodo in Valinor and this was my character design for Frodo.
In my mind, Frodo, being a gentlehobbit of leisure, had the time to devote to perfect ringlets. Even his foot-fuzz was coiffed!
Reblogging because I had posted this quite late last night.

Thorin: A tiny house would make sense. They're easy to move, small footprint and because they're so small you can splurge on fancy updates like marble countertops.
Bilbo: I am not leaving my luxurious smial to live in a wagon.
Thorin: It's a bit more than just a wagon...
Bilbo: I am accustomed to a certain lifestyle.
Thorin: Pfft. You did just fine living out of a pack on a horse.
Bilbo: That was a nightmare. You are literally describing a terrible time in my life I do not with to repeat.
Thorin: Fine. We can move into my mountain slash castle.
Bilbo: *pats his arm* It's called 'moving up the ladder', darling.
Thorin: Pfft. We could've been happy in a tiny home.
Bilbo: Trust me, you'll be happier with room for all of my stuff.
Treat or Treat! Hobbits prefer treats over tricks, TBH. I know trick or treating isn’t really a European thing (and therefore maybe not a Middle-Earth thing?) but I couldn’t resist drawing Bilbo taking Frodo around Hobbiton for treats and showing off his adorable little cousin.
Bilbo’s pumpkins all went towards pies so he cut some holes in an old bucket to make a Jack O’Lantern to carry to light their way.
Bilbo’s costume is really just clothes he already had with the addition of a simple cape. His fangs are just bits of radish. XD Frodo’s costume is a pair of old pyjamas Bilbo dyed and sewed ‘wings’ onto. The little bat-ears are just fabric stiffened with a bit of laundry starch and tied on with string. Frodo is missing one of his front teeth and has a bit of soot on his nose to look like a bat nose.
Before Frodo came into his life, Bilbo was quite content to ignore such festivities but now he’s seeing it through a fauntling’s eyes and he’s excited all over again.
I tried a different brush and I like how it works! I should do an actual painting with it to give it a real test.
Thorin’s getting hitched and that means even Thranduil gets a heads up about the big event. But what is this? Two ravens have messages for the Mirkwood King? Thranduil doesn’t have enough wine for this nonsense.
This part of the series took me five-ever to write and it’s the biggest part, by far.
No finished art update today because I prioritized finishing this fic but here’s a preview of Thursday’s pic post which will be inked and coloured!
Why yes! It IS Vampire Bilbo with his little familiar, Bat Frodo! XD They are off to a Halloween party! They’re gonna bob for apples and eat cakes and tell spoooky stories about haunted turnips!
